CFHS students Tyra McCoy, Anna Williams, and Allyson Self competed in the ‘ Student Chef Showdown’ Feb 5. It was held in the FACS department. All the participants needed to have their own recipe, and could only have 5 additional spices. The girls were very excited to be in it this year. Tyra McCoy was happy to be the winner.

“I was really excited to cook,I’ve always loved to cook at home.” Tyra said. She fixed stuffed chicken and smothered potatoes. She often cooks this meal for her family.

Allyson cooked ‘Apple Braised Chicken’.  She was surprised she was runner-up with Anna Williams.”It was stressful ,but I made it. It was a new experience for me. I went from not worrying about time to looking up seeing 5 minutes on the clock”. Allyson said.

‘Kale, Apple, and Almond Chicken Salad’ was made by Anna Williams. “I felt like I did very well and would love to do it again,” Anna said.

Everyone had a fun time and would all love to do it again next year. They are coming back better than this year!
