Camden Fairview High School Junior Varsity baseball team won their game against the Varsity Bulldogs on Thurs., Mar. 28. The final score was six to five and established a 4:1 overall record for the season and a 3:0 record in conference. However, the JV team lost to the Crossett Eagles on Fri., Mar. 29. The loss unfortunately soiled the team’s perfect conference record and set it at 4:1

Colton Dewoody, number 17, plays pitcher and third base for the JV team. He shared his thoughts on how the season was going by saying, “It’s going great because we have  a positive conference record and overall record.” Daniel Brian, number 22 and first base player for the team, says “the season is going fantastic so far.” Brian and Dewoody both agree that the JV team has good chemistry out on the playing field. Dewoody says, “The team works really well together in-game.”

The team had three more back-to-back conference games on the week after their loss on Friday. The games took place on Mon, Apr. 1, Tues, Apr. 2, and Wednesday, Apr. 3. The team lost to the Hamburg Lions on Monday and to the Genoa Central Dragons on Tuesday. They then won the game against the Warren Lumberjacks on Wednesday. This changed their conference record to 5:3 and overall record to 6:4.

Members of the team agree that their biggest competition this season has been the Magnolia Panthers. Their next game will be a home game against Bauxite on Fri., Apr. 5. Brian says “I think we have a good chance of beating them.” Playing Bauxite might be an easy win for the JV team, but playing Magnolia again will be quite a battle. We’ll see if they can keep their positive record in conference.
