CFHS Band First Game

The beginning of the band’s marching season can be incredibly stressful. The band began practicing for this year’s show on July 15 according to assistant band director Laney Rowe who has recently begun her first year at CFHS. The band continued to better themselves every day during first period and during their after-school band practices from 4-6 p.m.

“[Summer band practices were] really hot,” Sanchez recalled. “But we just had to tough it out.”

Last week during halftime, the band performed their show, Fiddler on the Roof, for the first time in front of an audience. Soloists were Mercedes Sanchez on alto saxophone, Autumn Merrit on the piccolo, and Blake Osinuga on the trumpet.

“Everyone said that the first game could have been better,” ¬†she said. “Everyone was just nervous and they didn’t focus.”

“I was very proud of their first performance,” said Laney Rowe.

The band is performing again during halftime. They will continue to improve their show every day to be prepared for their marching contest on Oct. 29.
